JOB TITLE: Marketing Assistant

TEAM: Let’s Do Business Group

LOCATION: Hastings/East Sussex

REPORTING TO: Marketing Manager



  • To support the Marketing Manager and LDBG in promotion of all services available through the group externally.



  • To utilise online, offline and social media to promote the group to a range of external target markets and key stakeholders.
  • Creating and disseminating off line marketing content
  • Developing marketing campaigns for specific target audiences i.e. start-up loans
  • Creating and updating online content for Let’s Do Business Group websites and social media
  • Assisting with the creation of case studies/ good news stories and ensuring they are disseminated internally and through social media
  • Maintaining the e-newsletter and email marketing database
  • Support Marketing Manager with researching appropriate datasets, including but not limited to: competitors, sectorial breakdowns, media, employment statistics
  • Promoting funding programmes such as business builder and start up loans (inc Peer Networking, chamber, exhibitions and training)
  • Contribute towards the development of the LDBG Marketing Strategy and ensure its delivery
  • Support the assessment of marketing campaigns, analysing data and producing reports
  • To support the delivery of projects following quality controlled processes that will include liaising with colleagues, clients and partners
  • To monitor and evaluate services and provide supporting evidence
  • To undertake such other tasks as considered appropriate by the Chief Executive or Deputy Chief Executive

Requirement: Education, training and qualifications


  • Educated to Level 3 standard or equivalent


  • Recognised marketing qualification


Requirement: Skills, knowledge and abilities


  • Practical understanding of the principals of marketing
  • Good working knowledge of various social media outlets and platforms
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to work with a diverse range of clients, suppliers and colleagues both face-to-face and by telephone.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail, work accurately and to tight deadlines
  • Flexibility – the role will require significant flexibility in being able to work across a range of stakeholders.
  • Organisational (including time management)
  • High standard of written English
  • Numeracy, computer skills, including the use of spreadsheets, word processing and other relevant software packages


  • Project Management
  • Preparation and delivery of presentations
  • An understanding of the range of business support, training and finance offered
  • An understanding of the projects being delivered and target beneficiaries
  • Graphic design skills would be beneficial, but not essential


Requirement: Experience


  • Experienced user of Microsoft software, specifically Excel spreadsheets, Word, PowerPoint, CRMs and Content Management Systems
  • Customer Service


  • Marketing to SME’s
  • Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator and InDesign would be beneficial
  • Working with the media is desirable
  • Business support/enquiry handling background

  • To write and devise suitable content for both online and offline marketing purposes
  • Creative – ability to spot marketing opportunities, develop appropriate content/responses
