Sussex based business champions the Let’s Do Business Group shortlisted for national award
Leading Hastings based business advice and finance support provider, The Let’s Do Business Group has been shortlisted for the Natwest SE100 awards in the ‘growth champions’ category. The organisation has recently seen a significant period of growth, with turnover increasing by 33% in the last year alone.
Let’s Do Business has been providing advice, training, loan finance and grants to businesses throughout the Sussex region and beyond for over 20 years, expanding their offering from their home county of East Sussex to the wider South East, South West, East Midlands and even as far as North Yorkshire. The Let’s Do Business Group are key partners in a number of government backed schemes such as The New Enterprise Allowance and Start up loans, aimed at helping small and start-up enterprises get their business idea off the ground.
The last five years has seen the Let’s Do Business team provide access to finance worth over £20 million, helping to grow the economy and create extensive job opportunities in communities up and down the country. Over 4500 businesses have benefitted from this funding, with over 5000 jobs sustained due to the availability of business finance support offered by the group.
The nomination for the growth champion award marks the end of a successful year for the Let’s Do Business Group, with a wide variety of businesses in a broad number of industries benefitting from the group’s support. Their satisfied clients include Eastbourne’s Ellis Building Contractors, St Leonards based pizza restaurant Pizzarelli, and Margate based Gallery Bar.
Pizzarelli owner James Norris said ‘I wouldn’t have been able to buy Pizzarelli if it wasn’t for Let’s Do Business Group.’ This sentiment was echoed by Ellis Building Contractors Managing Director Derek Godfrey who said ‘This financial support is allowing us to grow the company, and in turn create jobs and boost the local economy.’
The NatWest SE100 Index is now in its 7th year of celebrating the most successful leaders in social enterprise and its impact on the sustainability of the sector in the UK . The shortlisted organisations will be invited to bring members of their team to attend a special residential Insight Event at the RBS/NatWest Business School in Edinburgh in early 2017, focusing on ‘Leadership and Building a Brilliant Social Enterprise Team.’ The winners will be announced on 19th January at a ceremony in London.

The Growth Champion award is given to a social venture on the Index who has experienced positive, financial growth from one year to the next. The winner will need to prove sustainable and diverse income streams, coupled with a sustainable business model.
