My Biz February 2022 Winner
My Biz competition winner Trudy Golding wins £500 to launch True Natural Products and Advice
My Biz Start Up business workshop participant and recent winner, Trudy Golding, aims to launch a platform that will provide solutions to everyday health concerns with natural products and alternatives sourced from small businesses in the UK.
After taking part in the My Biz programme, Trudy entered a competition for participants to submit their plan for their business idea, developed through the workshop sessions.
Delivered by Let’s Do Business Group under the CHART programme, My Biz supports aspiring entrepreneurs in Hastings and Bexhill to follow their career aspirations. Ran in-person in Hastings Library throughout the year by our expert business manager Lisa Young, the programme got off to a positive start in September 2021 after most workshops had been taken online during the Coronavirus pandemic.
True Natural Products and Advice aims to be a service that is customer focused and personable, while packing an extensive knowledge of the products and advice on offer. The idea is for True Natural to provide recommendations on natural products, and clients will be able to book in-person consultations when they want a natural approach to treatment of some every day health concerns, like eczema, joint pain, allergies, anxiety and more. Trudy plans to primarily trade on an online platform through a website and shop, which will display all their available products as well as have the capability for clients to book appointments and fill in a quiz to narrow down the best products for their health concerns based on their answers.
Trudy attended the My Biz Start Up Business Workshops, which, delivered by Let’s Do Business Group at the Hastings Library, offer budding entrepreneurs in the Hastings and Bexhill area the opportunity to learn from an expert business coach on how to get their business off the ground. Course content covers a wide variety of topics that are essential for any new business owner, such as marketing, finance, planning and more, and gives attendees the resources to create a solid business plan moving forward.
After completing the My Biz workshop programme, Trudy entered her new business plan into the My Biz competition, and was awarded the £500 prize to help towards her start up costs.
Having previously worked as a retail manager for a popular high street wellness brand, Trudy believes she is well equipped with the knowledge needed to take her business idea forward. Her experience within the sector and the knowledge she’s gained has transformed into a passion, not only for providing natural alternatives to health concerns, but for the creation of a brand that will be known for its 1-1 consultation offerings and knowledge of treatments.
Short term, she plans to continue building her online presence on Instagram and Facebook, which will help to establish her client base and brand awareness in the local area while initially getting the business off the ground. Though long term plans include the hope for a permanent premises to carry out consultations, Trudy has secured a space at a local studio in St Leonards to hold 1-1 consultations with her customers one morning a week, which will help to start the ball rolling on creating her loyal customer base. In addition to this, Trudy has already established strong relationships with various small businesses to expand True Naturals’ product repertoire, all of which are displayed on her new website, which includes the option for site visitors to book consultations with her.
We wish Trudy and True Natural Advice & Products the best of luck for the future.
