Her Biz January 2024 Winner
Owner of Olmo Nutrition, Tibby King-Smith, wins £500 to jumpstart her business which offers a range of nutritional services for individuals and businesses through the NatWest funded Her Biz business programme
With a mission to help people understand the beautiful complexity of their bodies and the capacity it has for healing, Tibby King-Smith created ‘Olmo Nutrition’ to help gain confidence and knowledge of our health.
Tibby won £500 towards her start-up costs for Olmo Nutrition after taking part in the NatWest funded Her Biz start-up workshop programme in January 2024, and submitting her winning business plan to the following optional competition, which is open to all participants.
The Her Biz programme, which is delivered by Let’s Do Business Group and supported by NatWest bank, consists of 4 x 2-hour workshops over 4 weeks, and aims to increase entrepreneurship by breaking down the barriers between women and starting or growing a business. Delivered virtually over Zoom by expert business coaches, the programme has been a long running success since it launched over 3 years ago.
What is Olmo Nutrition?
Based in Hastings, Tibby is an ANP and GNC registered Nutritionist, who specialises in female hormone health. Health was a subject she had many questions around, always striving to be ‘healthy’ but with little knowledge of what this really meant. Understanding this is an experience many of us face, Olmo Nutrition’s mission is to empower people to regain autonomy over their health by providing education on the power of food. To do this, Tibby offers 1:1 nutritional consultations, which provide a personalised nutrition, lifestyle and supplement protocol, as well as nutritional consultancy, workplace talks, workshops and nutritional research for businesses. One of her long-term goals for the business is to have a growing client base of over one hundred and to offer free educational courses for those unable to afford a consultation.
Whilst her specialisms are female reproductive health (including endometriosis PCOS, fertility preparation), Tibby is able to support her clients with other health issues such as fatigue, stress/anxiety, weight loss and gut health.
The 1:1 service is structured around a 3 month package including 3 consultations, a personalised protocol, and bi-weekly check-ins .She also offers a ‘lifestyle boost’ which is a single consultation to discuss methods of health optimisation, targeted at those with an uncomplicated case history.
Tibby’s main goal for clients is to ensure that all nutritional advice she provides answers the ‘why’. The take away from her consultancy will service the individual for life – it’s an investment. By sharing nutritional education, people are able to understand the impact food has on our health and make informed food choices.
Finding the Her Biz programme
Tibby joined the Her Biz Start Up Business Workshop to gain some clarity on the practicalities of starting her own business, and how she could set about making her ideas for Olmo Nutrition a success. The Her Biz Women’s Start Up Business Workshops, delivered through 4 x 2-hour sessions, covers everything from sales, marketing, finance, and business planning; and from this, Tibby was able to create her plan of making Olmo Nutrition official, and how she could turn her hobby into a full-time business. After completing series of workshops, Tibby submitted her business plan to the subsequent competition, which is open to all attendees, and won the £500 prize towards her start-up costs.
Having completed the Her Biz programme with a renewed motivation for moving Olmo Nutrition forward, Tibby is now finalising her client paperwork and beginning to focus on marketing the business, planning to create a routine of posting on social media three times a week, and building a portfolio of projects that offers a sustainable income.
All the team at Let’s Do Business Group wish Tibby and Olmo Nutrition the best of luck!
