Put a Sock In It Campaign
This December, Let’s Do Business Group and the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce are leading a campaign which encourages people to donate new, thick pairs of socks to the Snowflake Trust to help local rough sleepers this festive season.
Up until March 2020, The Snowflake Trust, a charity based in St Leonards on Sea, had provided a temporary winter night shelter for rough sleepers on the streets of Hastings and St Leonards – but when the pandemic arrived, and the risk of spreading COVID19, the Trust had to change the way they operated.
For the last 2 years, The Snowflake Trust has been supporting rough sleepers in the town by providing hot evening meals over the winter period, and facilitating referrals to council provided temporary accommodation. The Put a Sock In It campaign aims to contribute new, thick socks to their provision this Christmas, to help our rough sleepers keep warm and dry as temperatures continue to drop.
To collect the socks for the Put a Sock In It campaign this November and December 2022, Let’s Do Business Group have installed donation boxes in their office in The Palace Workspace in Freedom Works Hastings to encourage donations of new, thick pairs of socks from colleagues and co-tenants. At the upcoming meetings for the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce, Chamber members can also donate to the cause to try to make a difference to rough sleepers in the local area.
Anyone who wishes to donate to the campaign and contribute to the great work that the Snowflake Trust does in the community, can donate to the Put a Sock In It campaign via the Trust’s LocalGiving page, where 100% of the proceeds will go to the Snowflake Trust to help them continue to provide warm meals and practical support this winter and beyond.
