We Raised Over £700!

Let’s Do Business Group raises over £700 for The Snowflake Trust this Christmas – along with a donation of over 50 pairs of socks as part of its Put a Sock In It campaign!

The Hastings based social enterprise led the ‘Put a Sock In It’ campaign to generate support and donations for local charity The Snowflake Trust to help people in temporary accommodation this Christmas.

The Snowflake Trust, a charity based in St Leonards on Sea, had up until March 2020 provided a temporary night shelter to help local rough sleepers through the winter – but when the pandemic arrived, creating a real risk of spreading COVID19, they had to change the way they operated.

In recent years, The Snowflake Trust has been supporting people in temporary accommodation by providing hot evening meals and practical support, and their work has been increasingly vital this winter for people feeling the impact of the cost-of-living crisis.

The ‘Put a Sock In It’ campaign aimed to collect new, thick pairs of socks to contribute to The Snowflake Trusts’ offering ahead of this festive season, to help to keep rough sleepers warm and dry as the temperatures drop.

Let’s Do Business Group and the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce organised a donation box in their office space in The Palace Workspace in Freedom Works for their colleagues, fellow tenants and members of the Hastings Chamber to donate the pairs of socks, and were overwhelmed with the amount collected – over 50 pairs, which will be handed out by The Snowflake Trust with their warm meals this Christmas.

As well as the sock collection, Let’s Do Business Group created a LocalGiving page for the campaign, which massively exceeded its initial £250 target – with total donations coming to just over £700 for The Snowflake Trust to enable them to provide even more support to those that need it in our town.

The Trustees of the Snowflake Trust Ltd are very grateful for the support that Lets Do Business Group and the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce, and all its members, have given to the Snowflake Trust over a number of years. They have assisted the Trust to help Rough Sleepers to move on in their lives, to support them in many areas including giving up addictions, and to move off the streets into accommodation they could call their own.

Let’s Do Business Group extends a huge thank you to all who donated to the campaign, keeping the rough sleepers in our community a little bit warmer this winter.

We are appreciative of the work that The Snowflake Trust do, and encourage other local businesses to support them to achieve their ongoing goals.
